Examination and Promotion Rules

Examination Rules :

CHOLASTIC: As per CBSE norms for classes IX - X

Three Written Periodic Tests will be conducted for each Subject in the entire Academic Session.

  • Pre Mid Term-First week of August
  • Mid Term-First week of November
  • Post Mid Term-Second week of January
  • Average of the Best two will be taken for classes IX and X,Final examination will be held in March with complete syllabus.

FOR CLASSES VI TO VIII

  • TERM 1 - Pre Mid Term-First week of August
  • Mid Term ( HALF YEARLY ) - First week of November
  • TERM 2 - Post Mid Term-Second week of January
  • Yearly Exam - March
  • Syllabus for yearly exam will comprise of 10 % of 1st term plus entire syllabus of 2nd term in class VI , 20 % of 1st term plus entire syllabus of 2nd term in class VII and 30 % of 1st term plus entire syllabus of 2nd term in class VIII.)

It is mandatory to appear in all the examinations.

Grading will be done on a 5 - point basis (A - E ) for both II and III for classes IX and X and on 3 - point basis ( A - C ) for classes VI to VIII.

Promotion Rules

Students up to class-VIII will get compulsory promotion by means of the provision of Right To Education Act 2009.

  • Students will be given grades for each of the tests/activities/examination.
  • Grades will be given on a nine point scale i.e.

A - 91-100 A2 - 81-90 B1 - 71-80 B2 - 61-70
C1 - 51-60 C2 - 41-50 D - 33-40 E1 - 21-33 E2 - Less than 20

A student of class IX will be promoted to the next class if he gets the qualifying grades (i.e. A-D) in all the subjects as well as in Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). He shall not be allowed to sit in the next class if he gets the non-qualifying grades i.e. E1 or E2.

As per rule of the Board, a student of class-X may be permitted to write external SA-II only when he/she plans to leave the Board (i.e. CBSE) in class-XI. For that his/her parents have to give a written application stating the reason before 31st August of his academic session of class-X. Otherwise for all the students the school will fill up the form for school based SA-II only.

For Class XI
Promotion will be based on the weightage of the marks obtained in the class test and three examinations i.e. 1st term,

2nd term and 3rd term*. A candidate must obtain 35% in each subject and an aggregate of 40% for promotion.

  • Students who fail in a class more than once will have to leave the school.
  • The attendance of 75% during the academic year is compulsory Otherwise the students will not be allowed to appear at the final examination.
  • Hindi medium - According to the rules of the CBSE Board
